Gencars Inc. operates as one of the leading franchised dealers on which Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) relies for its Philippine operations. Its track record of providing high-quality service and maintaining brisk sales gives it a distinct edge over its competitors. Its reward for maintaining this record of excellence after more than 42 years of existence is a long list of awards. Foremost of these is the Dealer of the Year Award in 2004 conferred for the first time by IPC in March 2005. The following year, 2006, it was again named Dealer of the Year for 2005, making it the first and only back-to-back Dealer of the Year Awardee of IPC. Isuzu Gencars once again made a major feat by making it to 2nd Place as Dealer of the Year Awardee for 2010.
On February 25, 2017, the Isuzu Gencars group of dealerships won another feather in its cap when Isuzu Philippines Corporation named Isuzu Gencars Batangas in Santo Tomas town as Dealer of the Year for 2016. This makes it the third Dealer of the Year for the company.
Before its 2016 award, Isuzu Gencars Batangas was second place winner of the Dealer of the Year Award in 2015.
Besides these landmark awards from IPC, Isuzu Gencars has also won the 2004 National Shopper’s Choice Award as No. 1 Isuzu Dealer in the Philippines, the 2005 National Product Quality Excellence Award as Best Isuzu Car Dealernationwide, and other major awards from prestigious awarding organizations in the motoring industry.
Gencars, Inc. strategically stands on a one-hectare lot, housing a spacious Isuzu vehicle showroom and a Five(5)–Star service shop at the corner of Chino Roces Avenue (formerly Pasong Tamo) and De La Rosa Street in the City of Makati.
Gencars was conceptualized and established on October 16, 1978 by Ambassador Antonio L. Cabangon Chua.
After a brief interruption in its Philippine operations, Isuzu resumed operations in the Philippines in 1989 as Isuzu Motors Pilipinas, Inc. Gencars, formerly a franchised dealer of General Motors Philippines, Inc. (GMPI) for Isuzu Gemini and Opel cars, again became one of its franchised dealers.
An offer from Sime Darby Philippines in 1994 to become tire distributor paved the way for the establishment of the Gencars Building, which now houses the sales and administrative offices of Isuzu Makati Gencars.
In July 1997, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) took over the business operation from Isuzu Motors Pilipinas, awarding a franchise to Gencars as one of its dealers.
On November 7, 1996, Gencars opened up a second dealership in Batangas located on a 5,884 square meter lot at the Crossing of barangay San Roque in Sto. Tomas town, known as Gencars Batangas, Inc. The dealership provides for the vehicle requirements and the motoring service needs of motor vehicle owners residing in the Southern Tagalog Region, which includes Calamba,Batangas, Lucena, Mindoro and Bicol.
In 1997, the company adopted the trade name Isuzu Makati, with Gencars, Inc. as its corporate name. This change in name further binds Gencars to the image of strength and dependability, precisely the qualities that customers count on for their Isuzu vehicles.
Gencars San Pablo, Inc., the company’s third outlet which started its operations on June 14, 2001, is situated on a 2.145 square meter piece of land along Colago Avenue, barangay 1-A, San Pablo City, Laguna. This third dealership caters to the brand-new vehicle requirements as well as the vehicle service needs of Isuzu vehicle owners in Laguna, Quezon Province and the Bicol Region.
After more than six years of providing the Bicol Region’s proud Isuzu vehicle owners with quarterly Special Off-Site Services, Gencars management finally decided to establish its fourth outlet, Gencars Legazpi, Inc., on July 17, 2006 at the Ground Floor, ALC Fortune Building, J. P. Rizal Street, Legazpi Port District, Legazpi City, Albay, proof that Isuzu Gencars remains as IPC’s reliable partner.
A fifth outlet, Gencars Naga, Inc, opened on August 8, 2008 at Km. 443 Maharlika Highway, Brgy. Palestina Pili, Camarines Sur.
Both outlets serve the motoring needs of major establishments in Bicolandia that require an improved mode of transport with modern facilities for after-sales service and parts.
On August 31, 2016 Gencars opened its sixth dealership in Batangas City, extending its reach to more areas and bringing to the bustling port city Isuzu’s dependable and strong diesel-powered vehicles as well as its well-known quality automotive service.
Gencars Batangas City, Inc is located in a 5,063 square meter lot which is part of the 6.2 -hectare Batangas City Grand Terminal property on Diversion Road, Alangilan, Batangas City. The place is known as Automotive Row in the province of Batangas for being the home of several major automotive vehicle manufacturers.
In 2017, Gencars launched its seventh dealership – Gencars Sta. Rosa, Inc. – in most promising conditions. No less than the President of Isuzu Motors Ltd., Masanori Katayama, also Representative Director of the company, came over from Japan to join other Isuzu officials at the soft opening September 27, 2017 of Isuzu Gencars Santa Rosa located along the Santa Rosa – Tagaytay Road in Barangay Pulong Sta. Cruz, Santa Rosa City.
In a message during the Santa Rosa dealership soft opening, Mr. Hajime. Koso described 2017 as “a very special year for all of us in Isuzu because it marked the 20th year since we formally opened in the Philippine market.” Noting Isuzu Gencars’ own 39th anniversary a few weeks later, or on Oct. 16, 2017, he added: “For me, there is no better way to celebrate our joint anniversaries than to open Isuzu’s newest dealership.”
